Remove backgrounds from photos and logos, refine the cutout, and download a transparent image.

Here’s how to get the most out of background remover.
Isolate a product for a listing, cut out a portrait for a profile, or remove a tabletop or room from a food photo. A transparent PNG can sit over another image, a presentation slide, or a web page without a visible background rectangle.
Photo mode uses AI to estimate the subject and its edges. Solid background mode removes a color that surrounds the image while keeping differently colored pixels, including fine type and dark artwork. If an important detail is the same color as the backdrop, restore it with the cutout brush.
Use a white or custom color for a product listing, or keep transparency when the cutout will be layered elsewhere. Resize the image with exact dimensions or use the square and portrait presets. PNG and WebP preserve transparency, while JPEG uses a solid background.
A few things you might want to know before you start.
Open a JPEG, PNG, or WebP up to 20 MB, with a maximum of 4,096 pixels per side and 8 megapixels total. Download as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
Choose Transparent under Add background and download PNG or WebP. JPEG fills transparent areas with white.
Open Edit cutout and use Restore to paint back details from the original. Switch to Erase to remove stray pixels, or reset to the automatic result.
Choose Group photo (AI) for overlapping people or dark clothing against a busy background. Review the cutout and touch up any stray areas before downloading.
Photo mode uses the open-source IS-Net model on your device. Its weights download on first use. Solid background removal uses color matching and can run without that download.
Your browser reads, processes, and exports the image on your device.
