2. PDF to Word Tool (`/tools/pdf-to-word`)

When you use our PDF to Word Converter, your files are handled under strict security, encryption, and retention controls:

• Encryption in Transit & at Rest: Files are uploaded over HTTPS and immediately encrypted at rest using streaming authenticated encryption with a secret key kept in server environment configuration.
• Isolated Conversion & Brief Plaintext Lifecycle: Because external conversion tools cannot read an encrypted file directly, our queued worker decrypts your PDF into a private, isolated temporary folder solely for the duration of the conversion in a hardened sandbox, encrypts the resulting .docx file at rest, and securely deletes all temporary plaintext files immediately—even if a conversion fails.
• Automatic 24-Hour Deletion & Delete-Now Control: All uploaded PDFs and converted Word (.docx) files are automatically and permanently deleted 24 hours after upload via a scheduled cleanup job that runs every 10 minutes. You may also delete your files immediately after conversion using the “Delete Now” button on the result screen.
• Minimal Metadata Stored: For each conversion, we store only a random ID (UUID), sanitized file name, file size, page count, conversion status, timestamps, and an HMAC-SHA256 hashed IP address (used strictly for rate limiting and abuse prevention).
• Zero Content Access: We never read, inspect, log, index, share, or use file contents in application logic, database queries, logs, emails, AI training, or admin screens.
